About
Université Laval
Located
in Quebec's historic capital city overlooking the majestic
St-Lawrence River, Université Laval traces its
origins back to 1663, when Monseigneur François
de Laval, the first bishop of New France, founded the
Séminaire de Québec with the authorization
of the King of France, Louis XIV. A Royal Charter creating
Université Laval was granted to the Séminaire
de Québec by Queen Victoria in 1852. A few years
later, in 1878, the Université Laval opened a
second campus in Montreal to offer higher education
in this city. Université Laval's "Montreal
branch" became the Université de Montréal
in 1920. Université Laval was the very first
institution in North America to offer higher education
in French. Hence, it is the source of all French-speaking
higher education on our continent. Today, Université
Laval is one of Canada's leading research universities
with over 34,000 students. The Faculté des sciences
de l'administration (FSA), founded in 1924, is the first
non-English speaking business school accredited by AACSB
International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools
of Business), with over 3000 students.

What
to wear ?
Early
June is a beautiful period to visit Quebec City. Daytime
temperatures will generally range between 17-22 degrees
centigrade (63-72 Farenheit) and at night they will
fluctuate between 5-10 degrees (41-50 F). Given our
Quebec by the sea Monday evening event, you are encouraged
to bring some warmer clothing (sweater, windbreaker--
no, you don't need woolen mittens or boots!). And although
we have been guaranteed sunny weather by Don Aldridge
(who seems to be well connected), you may want some
protection in case of sprinkles. To check out the weather
forecast click here.
