The COVID-19 pandemic is causing significant changes in business practices for companies, particularly with regard to their international operations. More specifically, young technology companies with a global business model that includes innovation partners, suppliers and customers abroad must find new strategies to achieve rapid growth under the current constraints. Among the economic development players that are there to support them, incubators and accelerators play a decisive role. They can host businesses, provide training and coaching services and facilitate networking with other local and even international organizations.
In terms of technology companies, Québec and Wales have dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystems in life sciences and artificial intelligence. These sectors enable the creation of high-value jobs and collective wealth by commercializing technologies in foreign markets. To ensure the economic growth of their respective nations, it is therefore essential that these young technology companies be provided with adequate support in order for them to develop the capabilities required to quickly conquer foreign markets.
This study analyzes the impact of the activities and services offered by incubators and accelerators on the development of rapid internationalization skills among young technology companies with high growth potential. Interviews conducted with 16 entrepreneurs i.e., four in life sciences and four in artificial intelligence, in both Québec and Wales, addressed their needs and the impact of activities and services on developing their skills to stand out as international leaders. The webinar will be an opportunity to present the results of this study, and then hold a discussion on best practices.
Meet you at 11 a.m. (Québec City) and at 3 p.m. (Wales)!
