The Bachelor of Business Administration program provides students with an understanding of the fundamentals of business administration and the various functions of a business. The program also aims to develop the skills, abilities and knowledge that are essential to management. The focus is on decision making, information technology, teamwork, communication and openness to the world in a business context. The program therefore trains competent professionals who can make sound and relevant decisions, in compliance with the principles of ethics and social responsibility.

In Brief

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program includes:

  • 13 courses to be completed by all students in the program
  • 12 concentration courses
  • 3 courses from the experiential component (international, research or professional environment)

You may enhance your training by selecting one of the 4 optional profiles or by undertaking an integrated pathway to a master’s program.

A Dynamic Pedagogical Approach

The program emphasizes the development of skills and abilities such as communication, decision making, teamwork, autonomy, using new technologies, social responsibility, and openness to the world. A variety of learning strategies are used: case analyses, debates, oral presentations, simulations, practical assignments, and many more.

Studies Profiles

Sustainable Development Profile

The sustainable development profile (webpage in French only) is the ideal pathway to gain more extensive knowledge about applying the concepts of sustainable development and understanding its issues. It aims to provide an interdisciplinary experience in problem solving and develop sustainable development skills in one’s field of study. The profile includes 12 credits: 3 credits for the mandatory course titled DDU-1000 Fondements du développement durable; 3 credits for a specialized course related to the academic program’s discipline; and 6 credits that can be earned through an internship, an intervention project, or one or two specialized courses selected from a predetermined list.

Honours Profile

The honours profile (webpage in French only) puts students on a fast track to the graduate programs. It consists of an agreement of 12 credits (including 0 to 6 undergraduate credits and 6 to 12 master’s credits, based on the agreement) entered into between a bachelor’s program directorate and a master’s program directorate. The master’s-level courses are contributory to both programs.

Entrepreneurial Profile

The entrepreneurial profile (in French only) fosters the emergence and development of skills that will enable students to take initiatives, carry out projects and manage them. This profile consists of 12 credits: 3 credits on the foundations of entrepreneurship; 6 portfolio credits; and 3 credits in connection with the academic domain or entrepreneurship.

Profil Honor

Le profil Honor entend mettre en valeur l'excellence et la motivation des étudiantes et des étudiants, grâce à un parcours enrichi qui comporte des sections de cours réservées aux cohortes du Profil.

International Profile

The international profile lets students undertake 1 or 2 semesters at a partner university located outside of Canada. Refer to the database of Université Laval’s International Office (webpage in French only) for the list of partner universities.

Continuance of Studies

Ce baccalauréat mène à des études aux cycles supérieurs, notamment dans plusieurs voies de spécialisation de la maîtrise en administration des affaires (M.B.A.) et de la maîtrise en sciences de l'administration (M. Sc.).

Gateway

Do you hold a DCS in Fashion Marketing, in Accounting and Management Technology, in Insurance and Financial Services, in Business Management, in Transportation Logistics or in Real Estate Appraisal Technology? Do you have an R score of at least 26? You could be granted up to ten courses in equivalencies and shorten the length of your studies.

Double-Degree Track

The double-degree pathway allows students to simultaneously undertake studies in a master's program at Université Laval and in a foreign partner university. This pathway offers a combination of educational activities that meet the requirements of both universities. Students receive a degree from each institution. 

Integrated Pathway to the Master’s Level

The integrated pathway allows you to undertake master’s-level coursework that contributes to both the bachelor’s and master’s programs, subject to a formal agreement between the directorates of the 2 programs in question. Internships

As part of your program, you will have an opportunity to undertake up to 2 for-credit and paid internships in a professional setting, here or abroad, that can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis in the summer, fall or winter semesters. For Whom Is This Program Intended?

The Bachelor of Business Administration is intended for anyone who likes to make decisions, solve problems and obtain concrete results, coordinating and supervising a team or project and who is interested in economics and politics. This program is for you if you like numbers, have strong analytical and adaptation skills, you are a versatile, rigorous and convincing person, you have strong people, leadership and diplomatic skills, and you can communicate easily in both French and English.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

The Bureau des bourses et de l'aide financière (in French only) has all the information you need regarding the available sources of funding for your studies, including the various government financial aid programs and the admission, excellence and mobility scholarships.

Admission scholarships

If you graduated from a Québec college institution (CÉGEP) with an R score of at least 28, you could apply for an admission scholarship of $2,000. Nearly $450,000 in scholarships are awarded to students every year.
