Course Selection Tips

Here are a few tips for selecting your courses.

Check the courses that have prerequisites.

Some courses have prerequisites. Refer to this tool to find out more.

Identify the semesters in which these courses are offered.

Please note that most of the courses offered in English are only given once a year. Plan to enrol in these courses accordingly.

Plan your long-term pathway.

Determine your pathway based on the course offering, personal considerations or any international stays you would like to add to your pathway.

Courses in French and Spanish

Although the program is only given in English, you can take up to 6 courses (18 credits) in French. You can also take 2 elective courses in Spanish.

Note that only one version of an equivalent course can be credited to your program.

Ideas for your summer semester

The course offering in English during the summer semester is more limited. We suggest you take advantage of this period to:

  • enrol in French as a foreign language (FLS) courses; or
  • undertake a short for-credit stay elsewhere in the world with the International Relations and Development Service.
