Universit\u00e9 Laval is both honoured and proud to have the privilege of being the first to hold this Conference in North America and to welcome you to Qu\u00e9bec City, the capital of the Province of Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-baseul-block-accordeon baseul-accordeon-yellow\"><h2 class=\"toggler-title-wrap\"><button aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"toggler-button\" aria-controls=\"Read-more\" id=\"Read-more_label\"><span class=\"toggler-title\">Read more<\/span><\/button><\/h2><div id=\"Read-more\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"Read-more_label\" class=\"toggler-panel\" hidden>\n<p>Qu\u00e9bec City is the cradle of the French-speaking North America and is recognize by the UNESCO World Heritage. Quebec City ranks among the most visited cities in the world for its safety, hospitality, quality of life and outstanding beauty. Its picturesque Old City is a living museum of narrow cobblestone streets, 17th and 18th&nbsp;Century buildings and soaring church spires, with the superb Fairmont Le Ch\u00e2teau Frontenac Hotel towering above it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AFFI is a community of scholars and practitioners working together to create and disseminate knowledge related to finance. The AFFI organizes two annual meetings (Annual Conference and Paris December Finance Meeting organized jointly with EUROFIDAI) with global participation. The AFFI also publishes three journals covering a wide variety of finance-related subject areas, and formally recognizes the contributions of researchers who enhance policy and business decision making in the field of finance. The AFFI\u2019s Annual Conference has become a major international forum for communicating, encouraging, and celebrating the latest research in finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AFFI 2019 Qu\u00e9bec City Conference<\/strong>&nbsp;will bring together scholars in the fields of finance, investment, economics, wealth management and the broader social science disciplines concerned with financial topics and issues. It also aims to attract practitioners and policy makers interested in these fields. Interested scholars and practitioners are welcome to submit papers in all areas of finance and to participate in the discussion of the latest theoretical and empirical research. Authors of accepted papers are expected to serve as chair and\/or discussant of a paper in their field. The conference will establish an inclusive and energizing atmosphere. All papers will receive a double-blind review. A discussant will be assigned for each selected paper. By submitting a paper, you agree that you, or one of your co-authors, a) will present your own paper during the Conference; and b) will discuss another paper during the Conference (note: \u201ca\u201d and \u201cb\u201d only apply to authors whose papers are accepted to the Conference).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The official language of the AFFI Conference is English. Before joining Wharton in 1988, he was Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago, where he received his PhD in 1981. Professor Stambaugh visited Harvard University as a Marvin Bower Fellow in 1997-98. He is a Fellow and former President of the American Finance Association, a Fellow of the Financial Management Association, and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Stambaugh has been the Editor of the <em>Journal of Finance<\/em> and of the <em>Review of Financial Studies<\/em>, an Associate Editor of those journals as well as the <em>Journal of Financial Economics<\/em>, and a member of the first Editorial Committee of the <em>Annual Review of Financial Economics<\/em>. It is about a 2-hour drive (route 138) from Qu\u00e9bec City. It is certainly worth stopping at Baie-St-Paul and sleeping for one or two nights at La Malbaie (suggestion: the Manoir Richelieu). There are three subsequent alternatives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Getting back to Qu\u00e9bec City using the same road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Taking the ferry from Saint-Sim\u00e9on to Rivi\u00e8re-du-Loup. Rivi\u00e8re-du-Loup (south shore of the St-Lawrence river) is one of the areas in the world with the most beautiful sunsets (seriously). Whale watching tours are available. It is worth sleeping there for a night or two. When getting back to Qu\u00e9bec City on Highway 20, make sure to stop in Kamouraska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Continuing along route 138 to Tadoussac and sleeping there for one night. Whale watching tours are available. Then, you can head to Forestville and take a ferry to Rimouski (south shore of the St-Lawrence river). You can stay in Rimouski for a few nights (very nice sunsets as well). Make sure to visit the Parc du Bic as well as the Jardins de M\u00e9tis \u2013 and the \u201cDoors to Hell\u201d (Portes de l\u2019Enfer). You can then get back to Qu\u00e9bec City on Highway 20\/route 132.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gaspe-peninsula\">Gasp\u00e9 Peninsula<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the nicest tourist itineraries is the \u201ctour de la Gasp\u00e9sie\u201d (Gasp\u00e9 Peninsula). Take Highway 20 then route 132. Plan to sleep for two nights in Rimouski, two nights at the G\u00eete du Mont-Albert (near Ste-Anne-des-Monts), two nights in Gasp\u00e9 (Parc Forillon), two nights in Perc\u00e9 (the scenary there is just gorgeous; make sure to take the boat tour to \u00cele Bonaventure), two nights in Carleton, then two nights in Rivi\u00e8re-du-Loup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-beyond-the-province-of-quebec\">Beyond the Province of Qu\u00e9bec<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Thousand-Islands area in Eastern Ontario is a world-renowned tourist destination. To get there, you first need to go to Montr\u00e9al (this is a very lively city; you may want to spend a few days there) and then continue for about 2.5 hours on Highway 401 towards Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another nice area to visit is the Maritime provinces. One nice and relaxing town is Sh\u00e9diac, in New-Brunswick. It takes about 8 hours to get there from Qu\u00e9bec City. Once there, you are very close to Prince-Edward Island.
