Schedules and classrooms
You are responsible for checking whether there are any scheduling conflicts with your exams.
Please always refer to your course outlines for information on the evaluations.
The schedule indicated in the course outline takes precedence over the one presented on the Faculty website in the event of any discrepancies between the two.
The exam schedule indicated on the site is provisional and may change without notice.
The schedule presented on the Faculty website only includes the fixed-length midterm and final exams. Your courses may also include additional evaluations.
Consult your exams schedule
*From this location, you will also be able to access a section with authentication specific to your profile to view the classrooms of your exams.
This section applies only to midterm and final exams. For any absence or inability to complete an assessment other than a midterm or final exam, please contact your instructor.
The program directorate is responsible for applying the exam postponement policy, the grade review procedure as well as academic accommodation measures for all students enrolled in an FSA ULaval course.
However, if you are taking courses at FSA ULaval, but are enrolled in a program that is not offered by FSA ULaval, you must settle your scheduling conflicts with the faculty concerned.
Scheduling conflicts with your exams
The program directorate will not accommodate any student with 2 midterm or final exams scheduled at the same time. At the beginning of the semester, you are responsible for making sure you do not have any exam scheduling conflicts with your other courses, whether in or outside the Faculty. Should there be a conflict, you must change your course selection before the drop-out deadline. If you are faced with a scheduling conflict that involves courses that must be taken in the same semester, you must fill out the online form during your 1st week of courses. After studying your file, the program directorate will send you a decision regarding the exam postponement by email.
Absences from an exam
Send proof justifying your absence from the exam using the online form as soon as possible and no later than than 5 business days after the date of the exam. Exam postponement applications received after that date will not be accepted, unless you can demonstrate that you were unable to provide the supporting documents before that deadline.
Only reasons deemed serious and of an unforeseeable and/or uncontrollable nature will be considered.
Admissible reasons to postpone an exam
- Death or funeral of a loved one
You must provide an obituary or other proof. - Illness
If you have a medical note, you can submit it using the exam postponement form (available in French only). - Parent students
All students recognized as parents under the Politique relative aux étudiantes et aux étudiants parents (in French only) may ask for special accommodations on serious grounds in connection with parental obligations or pregnancy (e.g.: childbirth, miscarriage, termination of pregnancy, childhood illness requiring a child to be kept at home, etc.). The parent student attestation must be submitted as supporting evidence, along with a medical note. - Other exceptional reasons
The program directorate may authorize other serious reasons. If in doubt, please fill out the form.
Instructions regarding an exam postponement
The Faculty has created an online form to manage scheduling conflicts and absences from an exam.
Do not contact your teacher or the department. Fill out the online form below as soon as possible. The program directorate will study your request and send you a final decision. Note that only reasons deemed sufficiently serious will be considered.
Please note that exam formats cannot be substituted with alternative formats (e.g., online rather than in person).
- Only one exam per course may be postponed to a later semester. Should you be absent from more than one exam, you will have to retake the course in its entirety.
- Even though a reason may be admissible, postponement applications will only be considered if your cumulative course average suggests that you have a reasonable chance of passing the course.
- You will take the exam during the next semester in which the course is offered. You will then be responsible for finding out about the material that is covered in the exam from the person teaching the course during that semester. We will give you access to monPortail at the beginning of the semester so that you can have access to the course material.
- The grade you receive on the postponed exam will be incorporated into your average for the semester in which you took the course. The final grade will be established in accordance with the grading schedule in effect for that section and semester.
- Absence from a postponed exam automatically leads to a grade of “0” for that evaluation, unless the absence is warranted by a reason deemed sufficiently serious, in accordance with this policy.
Step 1
Schedule an appointment with your teacher to consult the graded evaluation and receive his or her comments. For distance courses, please contact your teacher, who will then explain the grade via email, by telephone or in a videoconference.
Step 2
If, after completing step 1, you believe you were the victim of an error or unfair treatment, you can apply for a grade review. Evaluations carried out by a panel of 3 members or more do not qualify for a grade review.
Deadlines
- The review must be submitted within 10 business days of the date on which you received the grade
- Your teacher has 10 business days to reply. Note that a grade can be maintained, increased or lowered.
Step 3
If you remain dissatisfied with your teacher’s reply, you have 10 business days to appeal the decision using the online form. Your appeal will be forwarded to the department head and a committee of teachers. They have 20 business days to decide on a final grade, which is not subject to further appeal.
Here are some examples of admissible disabilities and disorders:
- visual impairment
- hearing impairment
- motor impairment
- organic impairment
- learning disorder
- attention deficit disorder/hyperactivity
- psychological disorder
- autism spectrum disorder
How to obtain accommodation measures for your exams
Before the start of the semester
Before the start of the semester, obtain an attestation letter from the Centre d’aide aux étudiants by scheduling an appointment with an advisor (available in French only) as soon as possible. Your advisor will work with you to determine which academic accommodation measures to put in place and give you an attestation letter that will remain valid for the entire duration of your studies.
During the first 2 weeks of the semester:
- Contact your teachers to make sure the academic accommodation measures specified in the attestation letter are compatible with the course’s requirements.
- Send your attestation letter to the Centre des examens at Examens.Accommodements@fsa.ulaval.ca. This letter specifies the academic accommodation measures to be put in place and includes a complete list of your midterm and final exams. If you are taking your exams off campus, also send your letter to accommodement@bse.ulaval.ca.
One week before the start of your exams
- make sure you have received the exam notice that confirms your accommodation measures.
If you have not received the attestation letter by the first 2 weeks of the semester
We ask that you notify the Centre des examens of that fact by email at Examens.Accommodements@fsa.ulaval.ca and indicate:
- The date of your appointment with the Centre d’aide aux étudiants
- Your entitlement to accommodation measures
- A complete list of your midterm and final exams for the semester in question
Deadline: 5 business days
You must submit your attestation letter at least 5 business days before the date of the exam. If your letter is submitted within 5 business days, accommodation measures will be put in place for your next exam.
The Faculty reserves the right to amend and/or adapt certain rules without prior notice on the basis of a given situation and/or particularities of given exam.
Online exams
Questionnaires or exams to be submitted via a drop box
If you are unable to attend an online exam, a grade of 0 will be assigned to that evaluation, unless the reason for the absence is admissible for an exam postponement. In such a case, you will have to fill out the exam postponement form (in French only) no later than 5 business days after the date of the exam.
Management of exams submitted late in a drop box
No additional minutes will be granted after the period of time prescribed by the teacher has expired.
If you are late to submit an exam, a penalty will apply or a grade of 0 will be assigned to that evaluation, unless the reason for the late submission is deemed admissible (e.g. illness, death of a loved one, etc.). In such cases, supporting documents must be provided.
