Helpful tip
I have a Chromebook. How can I record my presentation on video?
If you are using a Chromebook as a device in your courses, the free ScreenPal licence is not available for that operating system.
However, you can use Chromebook’s built-in screen recorder to record your video.
For instructions on how to use it, go to Take a screenshot or record your screen – Chromebook Help.
Converting video and reducing video file size
If your video file is larger than 250 MB, you can use the free Handbrake (Windows or MacOS) software to reduce its size.
NOTE: Handbrake requires the installation of the latest version of .NET on your Windows computer. If you receive the error message from .NET:
- In the error message window, click on Yes. A web page will open.
- Be sure to select Windows (usually the default option) and not Linux or MacOS.
- In Run Desktop Apps (middle section), click on Download x64.
- Download the file and install it.
Once these steps have been completed, Handbrake should work.
If you are unable to install and use Handbrake on your computer, it is available at our labs in rooms 3219, 3244 and 3324 at the Palasis-Prince building.
