Japan, often referred to as the “Land of the Rising Sun”, is renowned for blending ancient traditions, such as the celebration of Shôgatsu for the Japanese New Year, with modernity as the world’s third-largest economic power. With a population of 125 million, the country is also renowned for its diverse cuisine, ranging from sushi and soba noodles to grilled meat dishes like yakiniku.

The capital, Tokyo, ranks as the world’s most populous city, home to over 37 million people in its metropolitan area. During a visit, don’t miss the opportunity to try one of the 160,000 restaurants before crossing the famous Shibuya Crossing. Tokyo unveils many iconic neighborhoods, including Akihabara, also known as “Electric Town,” famous for its video game and electronic scene, and Asakusa, where the Senso-ji temple coexists with Nakamise Street, an ancient shopping alley.

Sophia University in Tokyo, founded in 1913, is one of Japan’s most prestigious private universities. Since the creation of its international division in 1949, Sophia University has been at the forefront of the globalization of Japanese universities, offering courses in English and welcoming some 600 exchange students every year.
