Designed to better meet the needs of employers and the criteria set forth by the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés (CPA) du Québec, the Bachelor of Business Administration – Public Accounting program prepares you for the DESS in accounting or the non-credited Programme de formation professionnelle (PFP) given by the Ordre to receive the CPA designation. In becoming a CPA, you can become involved in the development and deployment of an organization’s strategies, gain access to management positions and have a global vision of the business world.
In Brief
The Bachelor of Business Administration – Public Accounting program includes:
- 18 accounting courses
- 9 courses in other business administration disciplines
- 3 complementary courses
In the first part of the program, the accounting courses focus on developing concepts and tools that pertain to the accounting profession. The second half of the program places a greater emphasis on integrative courses.
You can enhance your training by choosing one of our two optional profiles or by undertaking an integrated pathway to the master’s program.
After completing the program:
- you will have acquired the skills required to strategically plan, direct and control financial affairs in order to ensure sound management of an organization’s financial performance
- you will be skilled in all aspect of an organization’s management and have the competencies to be involved in developing and monitoring its goals, policies and global strategy
- you will know how to plan and manage projects
Note that, depending on the profile you choose (international or distinction), you may be required to take certain courses in addition to those included in the program. For the international profile, the 12 credits completed abroad must be contributory to the program. As a result, an additional semester may be required.
A Dynamic Pedagogical Approach
This program emphasizes the development of skills required by the Ordre des CPA du Québec. It will increase your knowledge and develop your abilities to communicate, make decisions, work as a team and use new technologies, in addition to helping you become more independent. You will also explore the concepts of social responsibility, sustainable development and openness to the world.

Studies Profiles
Sustainable Development Profile
The sustainable development profile (webpage in French only) is the ideal pathway to gain more extensive knowledge about applying the concepts of sustainable development and understanding its issues. It aims to provide an interdisciplinary experience in problem solving and develop sustainable development skills in one’s field of study. The profile includes 12 credits: 3 credits for the mandatory course titled DDU-1000 Fondements du développement durable; 3 credits for a specialized course related to the academic program’s discipline; and 6 credits that can be earned through an internship, an intervention project, or one or two specialized courses selected from a predetermined list.
Honours Profile
The distinction profile (webpage in French only) puts students on a fast track to the graduate programs. It consists of an agreement of 12 credits (including 0 to 6 undergraduate credits and 6 to 12 master’s credits, based on the agreement) entered into between a bachelor’s program directorate and a master’s program directorate. The master’s-level courses are contributory to both programs.

Entrepreneurial Profile
The entrepreneurial profile (in French only) fosters the emergence and development of skills that will enable students to take initiatives, carry out projects and manage them. This profile consists of 12 credits: 3 credits on the foundations of entrepreneurship; 6 portfolio credits; and 3 credits in connection with the academic domain or entrepreneurship.

International Profile

Continuance of Studies
This bachelor’s program leads to graduate studies, including the Specialized Graduate Degree (DESS) in Accounting (in French only) and the Master of Business Administration – Accounting (in French only). It also leads to several specialization tracks in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Administration (MSc) programs.

Gateway
Do you hold a DCS in Fashion Marketing, in Accounting and Management Technology, in Insurance and Financial Services, in Business Management, in Transportation Logistics or in Real Estate Appraisal Technology? Do you have an R score of at least 26? You could be granted up to ten courses in equivalencies and shorten the length of your studies.

Integrated Pathway to the Master’s Level
The integrated pathway allows you to undertake master’s-level coursework that contributes to both the bachelor’s and master’s programs, subject to a formal agreement between the directorates of the 2 programs in question. Internships
As part of your program, you will have an opportunity to undertake up to 2 for-credit and paid internships in a professional setting, here or abroad, that can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis in the summer, fall or winter semesters. The Bachelor of Business Administration – Public Accounting is intended for anyone wishing to obtain the CPA designation in order to take on stimulating challenges in various types of organizations, such as public accounting firms.

Admission scholarships
If you graduated from a Québec college institution (CÉGEP) with an R score of at least 28, you could apply for an admission scholarship of $2,000. Nearly $450,000 in scholarships are awarded to students every year.
