Attestation d'études de deuxième cycle
Second Cycle
15 credits
Business intelligence is defined as the set of means required to transform data into intelligence and provide the right information to the right people, at the right time, and through the right distribution channel. This microprogram aims to train technical managers who can bridge the gap between decision makers who consume knowledge and computer analysts-architects who provide technological solutions.
In Brief
This microprogram examines two essential components of business intelligence: (1) defining the needs in order to set the goals of data collection and identifying the types of decisions that require information; and (2) defining the means by which to analyze and extract knowledge from these data.
In today’s world, relevant knowledge emerges after collecting huge amounts of data, known as “big data”, characterized by a high volume of data, a wide variety in the types of data collected, a high speed of acquisition and data veracity that needs to be assessed (inconsistent quality). The microprogram in business intelligence helps managers define their data needs and learn how to extract the relevant information from the data they collect.
- Certain courses given in hybrid delivery mode: a very flexible formula that combines the advantages of in-class and online teaching. In-class meetings are held once a month or every two weeks, depending on the course’s pedagogical approach.
