The Diploma
Diplomas are issued by the Secretary General’s Office (in French only).
You must have an average of at least 2.67/4.33 to receive your Master of Business Administration – Global Business diploma.
Is a minimum number of courses given in English required to receive my diploma?
Yes. You need to successfully complete at least 27 credits (9 courses) in English to receive the MBA – Global Business diploma, although all of the courses can be completed entirely in English.
To receive your diploma, you must have:
- satisfied all of the requirements of your academic program, including those related to the level of French proficiency to achieve (see your progress report);
- paid any outstanding balance in your student account to the Service des finances de l’Université Laval;
- sent all of the official documents required at admission (transcripts and diplomas) to the Registrar’s Office.
French-language proficiency, i.e. equivalent to the intermediate level offered by the École de langues de l’Université Laval), is a condition to receive your diploma. It is therefore recommended that you take the test as soon as possible to avoid delaying the reception of your diploma. For more information, refer to the section on language requirements.
For graduates of a master’s or doctoral program, diplomas are delivered every month (12 times per year). As such, the date that appears on your final transcripts and your diploma generally correspond to the last day of the month in which you satisfied all of the conditions of your program of study. As a result of administrative processing times required to enter grades in student records, the most likely delivery dates are the following:
- January 31 of the following year for the fall semester;
- May 31 of the same year for the winter semester; and
- September 30 of the same year for the summer semester.
To find out whether you have officially obtained your diploma, you can consult your transcripts in monPortail (in French only).
No official documents can be sent to you before the issuance date of your diploma. If needed, as soon as the diploma issuance date appears in Capsule (in French only), you can order an official transcript via monPortail (in French only). It can only be used as proof that you have obtained your diploma.
If you meet all of your program’s requirements and the diploma issuance date does not yet appear in Capsule, the Program Directorate can provide you with a certificate of completion if required. You must send your request to etudes@fsa.ulaval.ca.
Mailings
Your final transcripts and your diploma will be mailed to you 2 to 4 weeks after your diploma’s issuance date. Please note that these 2 documents may be mailed separately.
We recommend that you check your address and make any necessary changes in monPortail (in French only) before the issuance date of your diploma. Fees may be charged if the address used in the mailing is incorrect.
For any questions concerning diplomas or any other official documents, please contact the Secretary General’s Office.
If you are eligible, you will receive an invitation via monPortail. The graduation ceremony is held every year in June.
