Pathway
The MBA – Global Business is a 45-credit program:
- 13 courses worth 3 credits each
- 1 capstone activity worth 6 credits
There is no deadline to complete your academic program. You can complete it at your own pace. However, in order for your file to remain active, you must take at least 1 course per year.
Under section 3.24 of the Academic Regulations, “Any student who does not enrol in their program’s activities for three consecutive semesters, including the summer semester, is deemed to have withdrawn from the program and must submit a new application for admission. If the student is readmitted, any new program requirements shall apply, as applicable” [translation].
To submit an application for readmission
If your program becomes inactive, you must submit a new admission application online via monPortail. Application fees apply. Remember to respect the admission application deadlines.
For more information about the documents to provide when submitting an application for readmission in a program, refer to the section titled Applicants who previously attended Université Laval.
Yes, unless you are a foreign student with student authorization.
International students with student authorization must enrol as full-time students (at least 12 credits) in the fall and winter semesters, except for the final semester in which they will graduate. This exception is only valid only if the student in question has maintained full-time student status throughout their academic program.
Enrolment in the summer semester is optional.
Courses are generally 15-weeks long in the fall semester (September to December) and winter semester (January to April). However, in the summer semester (May to July), most courses are offered in an 11-week accelerated version. Note that the summer semester is optional.

There is no standard track to follow. You are free to determine the pathway that is convenient for you based on your personal and professional commitments.
If you have a preparatory coursework requirement, you must take that course or those courses on a priority basis.
If you wish to optimize your study time and progress efficiently, here is what we recommend:
- Give priority to compulsory courses, if possible.
- Pay attention to courses with prerequisites.
- Check the course offering (not all courses are offered every semester).
- Follow the rules indicated in your program structure.
- Plan ahead for the French-language requirement you must satisfy to receive your diploma.1

Are you an international student? You are required to be a full-time student in every fall and winter semester (summer semesters are optional and part-time status is authorized). If your admission semester is in the summer, that condition must also be respected.
The full-time student requirement does not apply to the final semester in your program.
All master’s programs include a capstone activity in the form of a written assignment in which students can demonstrate they have achieved the program’s objectives.
To find out about the procedures and steps to follow to complete your capstone activity, refer to the Capstone Activity section.
No, an internship completed as part of an academic program always comes with credits.
If you would like to undertake a non-credited internship to prepare to enter the labour market and gain concrete experience in your field of study, you can check with the employer whether they can hire you as a student rather than an intern. However, private sector employers cannot get any tax credits. In the case of public sector employers, the internship must usually be linked to an academic program and academic credits, without which they cannot hire you.
Are you an international student? If you wish to undertake a non-credited internship, you must do so within the limits of labour laws in connection with the study permit.
If you are enrolled in a program at Université Laval and would like to withdraw from that program to study in a new program, you must fill out an online admission application.
By accepting the offer of admission, you can indicate your decision to withdraw from the previous program in favour of the new one. If you decline the offer of admission or fail to reply, you will remain enrolled in the original program.
Remember to respect the admission application deadlines.
You can enrol in more than one program at a time, under certain conditions (Academic Regulations, sections 228 to 233). To do so, you must fill out an online admission application. By accepting the offer of admission, you can indicate your decision to attend this new program without withdrawing from the other program.
Some simultaneous enrolments are approved automatically, whereas others must be authorized by the program directorate. You will receive a message once a decision has been made.
