COTE 100 Joins FSA ULaval in an Innovative Project on Long-Term Investment

COTE 100 and Université Laval’s Faculty of Business Administration (FSA ULaval) are delighted to announce the creation of an innovative project in finance. Supported by a major donation of $500,000 over 20 years, this project will serve to promote the long-term investment philosophy and develop patience in investment matters among students enrolled in the finance program, as well as provide them with financial support.
Thanks to this donation from COTE 100, a total of $20,000 per year will be invested by a cohort of FSA ULaval finance students into the Fonds COTE 100, a philanthropic fund at Université Laval. The cohort will receive specific training and be tasked with proposing investment strategies that meet several criteria, including investments in a maximum of 20 equally-weighted securities with a requirement to hold the selected securities for the 20 subsequent years. A new cohort will be created every year to take over the deployment of the initial capital, and the cohorts can track the progress of their investments over the course of their 20-year period.
The returns will be awarded as scholarships and COTE 100 will also donate $5,000 in scholarships every year to the finance students who have developed the selected investment strategy.
