Caroline Housieaux Appointed Head of the New Centre for Experiential Learning
Friday June 18th, 2021
Driven by the desire to strengthen the links between its educational offering, students, and the business community, FSA ULaval has created the Centre for Experiential Learning, which is scheduled to launch in Fall 2021. Dean Frank Pons is proud to announce the appointment of Caroline Housieaux, MSc, MBA, as the head of this new entity.
Several initiatives to create links between education and businesses already exist at the Faculty and on campus. “The goal of this Centre is to create a coherent hub for collaboration between the student community, alumni, teaching staff and businesses from here and elsewhere. This new centre is a reflection of our commitment to providing the student community with courses of the highest quality,” emphasized Frank Pons.
“What drew me in the most was the collaborative aspect of the project. My role will consist, among other things, of surveying companies on their needs in terms of skills, and to engage in an internal thought process, along with the teaching staff, on how to develop those skills in our students. Entrusting me with this mandate is a great sign of confidence. I am very grateful to have this opportunity to put my skills to use with this new entity, and especially with my peers, the business community and, obviously, our students,” reflected Ms. Housieaux.
She is also enthusiastic about creating a team that can stimulate interconnections with projects that already exist on campus. In this regard, the Centre for Experiential Learning nurtures the ambition to become the hub for all actions that will foster this synergy between the labour market and the academic world.
“I also dream of an actual place where we can initiate discussion sessions to give the student community an opportunity to express their educational wishes. I would also like to bring in our student associations to provide training in order to prepare our students for the labour market by having a stronger connection with the business community. Lastly, I hope companies will develop the reflex to call us to discuss their issues and see how we can help them with the wide range of expertise we have here at FSA ULaval,” concluded Caroline Housieaux.
We wish her every success in her new position!
