FSA ULaval Renews Its Membership in the United Nations PRME Initiative
Wednesday July 5th, 2023
It is with great pride that we have recently submitted a report to renew our membership as a signatory member of the United Nations global Compact’s PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education). This membership, in effect since 2018, exemplifies our ongoing commitment to promoting responsible management through our practices, our educational and research activities, as well as our awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
What is PRME?
The PRME initiative was launched by the UN in 2007 with the goal of mobilizing higher education institutions around the world to promote education that incorporates the principles of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. We are committed to the following six PRME principles:
- Purpose: We will develop the capabilities of students to be future generators of sustainable value for business and society at large and to work for an inclusive and sustainable global economy.
- Values: We will incorporate into our academic activities and curricula the values of global social responsibility as portrayed in international initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact.
- Method: We will create educational frameworks, materials, processes and environments that enable effective learning experiences for responsible leadership.
- Research: We will engage in conceptual and empirical research that advances our understanding about the role, dynamics, and impact of corporations in the creation of sustainable social, environmental, and economic value.
- Partnerships: We will interact with managers of business corporations to extend our knowledge of their challenges in meeting social and environmental responsibilities and to explore jointly effective approaches to meeting these challenges.
- Dialogue: We will facilitate and support dialogue and debate among educators, students, business, government, consumers, media, civil society organizations and other interested groups and stakeholders on critical issues related to global social responsibility and sustainability.
What is the impact of PRME?
“As a signatory member of PRME, the Faculty joins a global community of higher education institutions that share the same values. This membership strengthens our reputation as a leader in responsible management that is aware of global issues and committed to creating a sustainable future.”
We are proud of our actions that position FSA ULaval as a socially responsible business school. We invite you to read the full report.
