The Port Industry: FSA ULaval Partnerships in Overdrive
Wednesday May 15th, 2024
On May 14 and 15, Terminal 30 at the Port of Québec welcomed the fourth edition of the Assises québécoises du secteur maritime, a major event that brings together marine stakeholders, decision makers and partners. In this setting, FSA ULaval is a proud contributor via its research partnerships, especially in terms of the future direction of the marine industry.
The Faculty’s new international research partnership projects are a unique opportunity to further develop transport logistics expertise and promote carbon neutrality in the marine industry, and the St. Lawrence Seaway in particular. Our active collaboration with the EM Normandie Business School, specifically with regard to port industry issues, significantly expands our research horizons and paves the way to new and innovative perspectives.
The presence in Québec of Édouard Philippe, Mayor of Ville du Havre, is testimony to the international scope of the issues, whereas the first meeting of the board of directors of the Association internationale des Villes et des Ports (web page in French only) to be held in North America holds great promise for productive discussions about the links between ports and communities.
To capitalize on this forward-looking momentum, FSA ULaval wished to bring together experts from the world of academia, port authorities and municipalities to discuss prospects for the future in terms of management, sustainable development and innovation.
As part of this major conference commemorating its 100th anniversary (web page in French only) the Faculty is honoured to welcome Mr. Édouard Philippe, Mayor of Ville du Havre and President of the Association internationale des villes et des ports (AIVP). As President of the AIVP and a leading figure in the French political landscape, Mr. Philippe will provide invaluable insight into the challenges of international marine trade. He will be supported by presentations by Olivier Faury, Associate Professor in Maritime Transportation at the EM Normandie Business School, Pierre-Luc Gosselin, Director of Business Intelligence at the Port of Québec and Leandro Coelho, Full Professor of Transport Logistics at FSA ULaval.
