A Historic First Place Finish for FSA ULaval at the 2023 Financial Open

FSA ULaval students continue to make a name for themselves at inter-university competitions. After their record-breaking performance at the Jeux du commerce, the FSA ULaval delegation moved on to Université du Québec en Outaouais to compete at the 2023 Financial Open, the largest finance and accounting competition in Eastern Canada. Among the more than 350 students from 10 universities, team FSA ULaval slid into first place overall: a first for the Faculty since this event was launched in 2006!

The FSA ULaval delegation walked away with this outstanding result after achieving 8 out of 10 podium finishes in the academic challenges.

• Management Accounting: 1st place
• CFA Ethics Challenge: 1st place
• Market Finance: 1st place
• Personal Financial Planning: 1st place
• Financial News Quiz: 1st place
• Corporate Finance: 3rd place
• Market Simulation: 3rd place

In addition to these impressive results, team FSA ULaval came in 3rd for its professionalism, and FSA ULaval Competition Committee (web page in French only) Financial Open coordinator, Loïc Paradis-Spahr, came away from the competition as Coordinator of the Year.

I am very proud of all of our teams that participated in this competition. After their performance, each team was satisfied with what it had achieved. And that’s what matters! The evening’s results simply confirmed everything. Congratulations to all of the participants! You fully deserve this first place finish. Thanks to the coaches who pushed them to reach their peak performance in each of the disciplines. Thanks also go out to the CCFSA, its president, Laurence-Olivier and our coordinator, Loïc, who have worked tirelessly since the beginning of the year. See you next year!
