A New Centre for Expertise in Corporate Governance

Last November, the Centre d’expertise en gouvernance de sociétés (Centre for Expertise in Corporate Governance) was officially launched in collaboration with the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés.

Its mission: to develop research activities on issues related to corporate governance in order to fuel the development and dissemination of knowledge in this field and contribute to the improvement of practices.

In concrete terms, this Centre will focus on two types of issues: the functioning of governance structures (board composition, sound practices, independence, etc.) and the concerns of directors (strategy, risk management, IT, equity, diversity, inclusion, etc.). Its intervention approaches will be descriptive, scientific and applied.

A Well-Implemented Team

Jean-François Henri, PhD, FCPA, FCMA, ASC., has been selected to lead this new entity. Mr. Henri also holds the positions of Full Professor, Director of the School of Accounting and Pedagogical Director of the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (in French only).

The steering committee is composed of:

• Hugo Lacroix, Autorité des marchés financiers
• Josianne Marsan, Vice Dean of Research and Innovation, FSA ULaval
• Marie-Josée Roy, Full Professor, FSA ULaval

In April, the Centre’s team will announce the research projects selected as part of its initial call for projects. Several governance research scholarships at the master’s and doctoral levels will soon be confirmed and a 2nd call for projects will begin in Winter 2022 (in French only).
